Where To Grab a Drink in Asheville, NC

December 21, 2018

Asheville, North Carolina is full of good alcohol. While, I’m not a huge drinker, visiting the breweries, wineries, and bars is a huge part of the Asheville experience. This list is a few of my favorite stops to grab a drink. Add them to your travel itinerary for a great time!

New Belgium Brewery

New Belgium is an extremely popular craft beer brand. The Brewery gets to call Asheville, North Carolina home. (as well as Fort Collins, Colorado.) In 2016, the Brewery produced 957,968 barrels of its various labels.

While I’m not a huge fan of beer, beer drinkers definitely enjoy New Belgium’s yearly staples: Voodoo Ranger and Fat Tire. Make sure to get a picture in front of the famous brewery sign.

Urban Orchard Cidery

The Urban Orchard Cidery is more my tune… I love cider! The Urban Orchard Cidery opened in 2016 and just opened a second location in West Asheville. They currently only have 15 ciders on tap but are looking to expand to 20 Urban Orchard ciders at all times.

Their ciders are absolutely amazing. Their apples are grown near by in Hendersonville and  go through an aging process that lasts at least eight months. My favorite is their Sweet English Cider but the Sidra Del Diablo has a special place in my heart… it’s spicy! Have you ever had a spicy cider?! It’s made with fresh habanero and creeper spice.

Wedge

Wedge is another popular brewery in Asheville, NC. Unlike New Belgium though, Wedge is not a distribution company. Everything brewed at the Wedge is sold at the Wedge.

The Wedge is such a fun drinking experience. The location on Paynes Way is in a beautiful 19th century warehouse. How cool! They also have different food trucks at their locations each night of the week.

Omni Park Inn

The Omni Park Inn is a MUST. Even if you don’t drink alcohol, you should check it out for dinner or hot cocoa. The Omni Park Inn is a 4-star hotel that opens it’s doors to visitors for their dining experiences. They make sure they have all the local beers, ciders, and wines on tap for you to try and enjoy.

Try to get to Omni Inn before sunset AND bring a camera! If you decide to eat/drink outside, you will catch some beautiful views. Afterwards, you can explore inside for a bit. During the Winter, there is a huge gingerbread house set-up to check out.

Hi-Wire Brewery

My cousins had their rehearsal dinner party at Hi-Wire Brewery and everyone absolutely love the place. Hi-Wire actually has THREE brewery locations. Some of their flagships include Lo-Pitch, Hi-Pitch, and Hop-Circus.

They have tons of events throughout the month (a Burger & Pint night every Monday). You can also book a tour of the brewery and learn more about what goes on behind the scenes.

Biltmore Winery

The Biltmore is a huge tourist attraction in Asheville and I’m sure that it’s already in your travel plans. Did you know that there is a winery on the estate as well? The wines are grown and handcrafted on the Biltmore property. Biltmore owns over 8,000 acres in Asheville, NC.

After your tour of Biltmore, head on over to the winery for your complimentary tasting!

Wicked Weed Funkatorium

With a name like Funkatorium, why wouldn’t you want to go? Located in the South Slope Brewery District of Asheville, the Funkatorium is the East Coast’s first sour and funky beer dedicated taproom. There are several flight options so you can try a whole different array of beer options.

It’s also a full service restaurant offering wings, salads, sandwiches and more seven days a week. Food and funky beers? Yes please.

What are some of your favorite places to drink in Asheville? Did they make the list? Share your thoughts below!
