How To Spend a Weekend in Ocean City, NJ

I grew up in New Jersey and try to visit my home state every now and then. Until recently, I hadn’t visited New Jersey in over a year so this trip was long overdue! I was only in town for three days but somehow managed to fill the weekend with fun activities. Even though I’m glad I left Jersey, I enjoyed seeing my family, friends, and Wawa. Sheetz or Wawa? Which one do you like better?

Our adventure started off in Ocean City, New Jersey.

When we were younger, my family used to spend two weeks every summer in Ocean City so I’m very familiar with the charming beach town. However, since most of us are grown and moved away, it’s scarce that we get to go… (#adulting). My mom and I jumped at the opportunity to drive down for the day. Unfortunately, it rained most of the weekend so I didn’t get to visit my favorite attractions. But we did stumble across a lovely craft fair 🙂

There were tons of yummy food, craft jewelry, and interesting finds. Plus funky beach music from a live band. Since Ocean City, NJ is such a family-friendly destination, there is always some fun event happening! I used to love being in OC for Night in Venice, various parades, and music on the pier. You can check out current events here.

On your next trip to Ocean City, make sure to visit these three local attractions:

Manco & Manco’s Pizza

Formerly known as Mac and Manco, Manco’s has called Ocean City home since the 1950’s. Although it seems there is a pizza parlor on every corner in Ocean City, Manco & Manco’s is fan favorite. They have a variety of toppings and have perfected a crispy, thin crust. You can stop at one of their THREE locations on the boardwalk or order free delivery.

TJ’s Ice cream

In the old days, we used to simply walk across the street to TJ’s ice cream. Out of all the ice cream shops in OC, TJ’s is the ultimate. TJ’s Ice Cream offers 60 flavors of the most delicious ice cream. Not in the mood for an ice cream cone? They also have milkshakes, crepes, sundaes, candy, cookies, brownies, coffee, and hot chocolate! They are located at East Atlantic Avenue.

Castaway Cove

I have SO many great memories of Castaway Cove! There are two “amusement” parks in Ocean City but Castaway Cove is my favorite.  Gillian’s Wonderland is aimed more towards kids. The park is pirate themed and filled with thrilling rides for all ages. Check out Double Shot and Extreme Cyclone if you’re brave enough 😉

The Jersey Shore is such a wonderful spot. I love the feeling and look of a beach town. Aren’t these houses adorable? ❤️

We sat outside on the patio and watched the world go by. Living hundreds of miles away from my parents sometimes brings me down, especially on Mother’s Day. Yet, I am thankful I for this time in OC with her. She fully supports my endeavors and always cheers me on from the sidelines. Plus makes a pretty good impromptu photographer! As always, we had such a great time in Ocean City.  I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer to hopefully make another trip!
