The Top 8 Things You Need To Do On Your Next Cruise

There is always something to do while on a cruise vacation. Between daily activities, shore excursions, and all the amenities the ship has to offer —you’ll never be bored! In fact, it can be difficult to fit it all in. From the moment I enter the ship, I hit the ground running. Want to make the most out of your cruise vacation? I compiled a bucket-list of things you HAVE to do during your time on board. Get ready to fall in love with cruising and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Order room service

I had never ordered room service on board until a month ago and it was a life-changing experience. For years, I was under the impression that room service cost extra. Unless you order champagne or other expensive items (like chocolate covered strawberries)… room service is free! After a long day on the beach, you deserve to be lazy and eat in comfort of your bed. I typically order a huge spread of pizza, fries, and cookies —and since I’m in my room, no one can judge me!!

Test your luck at the casino

Most ships have casinos that you can get lost in! While I’m not a big gambler, I do think part of the cruising experience is playing a game in the casino. If you’re anything like me, stick to the slots. Plus you can’t spend too much time in there because there’s so much left to do! Test your luck but know when it’s time to walk away.

Catch a show

Cruises take pride in their onboard entertainment. Throughout your vacation, you may see Broadway shows, original productions, and guest performers on stage. You are able to catch a show every night. These shows are absolutely spectacular and free!

Enjoy the hot tub

I can bet you that there will be multiple hot tubs on board your ship. Who doesn’t love relaxing in a hot tub? However, hot tubs are usually crowded during the day so the best time to dip your toes into one is usually at night.

Sip on a drink at the bar

There will be TONS of bars on board your ship. Pros: You will never go thirsty. Con: You can end up spending a lot of money. Thankfully, most cruise lines have updated their alcohol policy to which you are now able to bring a certain amount of wine on board with you (Take a look at yours before you board). To save money on your bar drinks, though, you can order the drink of the day. Or drink beer.

Get your picture taken

Cruise lines offer numerous photo opportunities. While I do rely mostly on my phone for pictures of my trip, I make sure to get my picture professionally taken by the photo team on board at least once. The cruise line’s photo team does a great job and helps you get that picture perfect shot to remember your cruise. Plus, they usually will offer photo packages for cheap near the end of your trip!

 Join the party

One thing I know for sure: Cruise lines know how to throw a good party. Keep an eye out for themed parties each night. But if you happen to miss a party… don’t worry… most ships have clubs as well! So, there are plenty of opportunities for you to dance the night away!Join the party and let loose. I promise there’s no cover charge!

Walk around the whole ship

By the last day of your cruise, you should have ventured around the entire ship. Cruise ships are huge and have so many places to explore! Tour the ship and get familiar with your whereabouts. Also, spend as little time in your cabin as you can (besides eating room service pizza).

A cruise is a great time for you to get out of your comfort zone and live a little! Check off these items on your cruise bucket-list and discover how much fun you can have on board. Relax and unwind as you set sail —far away from your worries.

Let’s start the conversation: Have you been on a cruise before? Or are you planning an upcoming cruise vacation?
