Re-introducing Carly in The Triangle

September 1, 2022

Damn. My last blog post was from October 2020. It’s been almost two years since I’ve posted on Carly in The Triangle and I don’t know how to post again without just jumping in head first. To be honest, even writing this I’m a bit uncomfortable—who the heck is actually going to read this? I’m voluntarily putting myself out there for people to criticize and judge, in hopes that someone will learn a thing or two from me. Wish me luck.

Our wedding May 7, 2022.

So, what happened? 2020 happened. And if that’s not a valid explanation: In the past two years, I’ve gotten engaged and married, grieved the deaths of my close friend and my grandmother, learned I have hypothyroidism, began my fitness journey and changed jobs twice. To say I’ve been busy is an understatement.

What kind of content can you expect from Carly in The Triangle? We’re on this journey together, friends. I still am very much passionate about what this site was founded upon (aka: living in and loving Raleigh, N.C.) and you can expect lots of content on the Capital City—like 6 Triangle Parks to Enjoy this Summer, My Favorite Places to Eat in Raleigh, NC and Raleigh’s Secondhand Shopping Scene. However, I also love fitness, and books, and knitting! I have multiple interests and while exploring the Triangle area and sharing awesome things about it is still my favorite, I’m no longer putting myself nor my blog in a box. Perhaps I want to share a recap on my recent trip or read a really great historical fiction that I’m sure you’d love too, I’m going to share it.

This space is mine. I pay for this domain and website, why shouldn’t I do what I want with it? That means, I’m going to show my face more around here. I thought my audience wanted more article-type posts and intentionally made my blog less personal. But it wasn’t as fun. I’m putting the Carly back in Carly in the Triangle.

Complete authenticity and honesty. I’m almost 28. I’m getting too old to be caring what people behind their computer screen think about me. Is this the result of surviving an extremely toxic job? Or possibly losing some of the people who matter most to me? Who knows. I’ve got my family, friends and husband so I don’t necessarily need you to like me (I’d like you to like me, but if you don’t that’s alright too). My promise is that I’m going to be completely 100% raw and unfiltered from now on. I’m going to share my whole truth, even when it’s ugly, because my life isn’t perfect and I don’t want other people thinking it is.

I started this blog at 22-years-old and while I’ve changed themes and names a few times since, I’ve never really taken a step back to decide what I really want to write about. I was focusing on what I thought other people wanted, I was writing for an audience I didn’t actually vibe with, and I was following trends for the sake of being relevant. This Carly in The Triangle is for ME—I’m going to keep posting on this blog because I enjoy it, even if it only ever gets 2 page views (shout out to my momma and husband!).

So, I hope you join me on this journey. I’m excited to see how this website evolves! If you want, you can subscribe to my adventures below:
