My Favorite Places to Eat in Raleigh, NC

September 6, 2019

Raleigh, North Carolina is filled with delicious restaurant choices. Whether you’re visiting the RTP area or have lived here for years, these places are always good to grab food at.

I combined my favorite Raleigh restaurants into a shareable list for you and your friends. The following spots vary from breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and quick bites.

Rockin Roll Sushi

I never tried sushi until this year and now I cannot get enough of it! Rockin Rolls Sushi Express is a great sushi restaurant with the coolest concept. It’s sushi… but on a conveyer belt! Nobody bothers you at your table since there are no waiters. Sushi rolls just move through the restaurant and you serve yourself the plates you want. Plus, it’s all you can eat so for 15$ you can stuff yourself silly!

They also have their own specialty rolls. My favorites are the Volcano Roll, Raleigh Roll, and Richmond Roll. They still have original favorites like the Veggie Roll or California Roll. You can also order hibachi at no additional cost.

Two Roosters

Two Roosters Ice Cream is a Raleigh delicacy. They started right here in Raleigh and use local ingredients in all their recipes. They currently have two locations, although I have only ever been to the Greystone Village store.

They have great “forever flavors” such as Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee, etc. However, they also do a rotating menu! These flavors rotate each month to highlight a specific season or a festive theme. So if you see something you like, try it before it’s gone! I always get to Girl Scout Mint (forever flavor), which has Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies in it and supports local troops.

Lynwood Grille

Lynwood Grille is right around the corner from us so it’s hard not to go every day. Lynwood serves a variety of food but is best known for its specialty pizzas. Back when I was Gluten Free, they even accommodated me with a GF crust.

Lynwood has a awesome list of wines and beer on tap including their very own award-winning microbrews from Lynnwood Brewing Concern. You can actually watch the beer being brewed through floor-to-ceiling glass windows while you eat. That way you know it’s made fresh and with love. There’s also always some community event going on at LBC. Make time on Wednesday to try your hand at Wednesday night trivia.

Relish

If you love southern food, you’ll love Relish. Relish has all the classic Southern dishes but reimagines them with popular ingredients and current techniques. Like Buffalo Chicken Mac N’ Cheese served in little skillets. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, as is service exceptional.

After your meal, head up front to check out their little marketplace. It is filled with local trinkets and goods for you to take home.

Tupelo Honey

Another great Southern restaurant is Tupelo Honey. However, Tupelo Honey is not native to Raleigh and has other locations in Asheville, NC, and Nashville, TN. Nonetheless, absolutely delicious! Especially their fried chicken.

The Raleigh location can be a bit packed on the weekend since it’s in the populated Cameron Village area but totally worth the wait. Opt for outside seating and you’ll agree that they have the cutest outdoor area ever! My favorite time to go is Saturday for brunch. The biscuits are heavenly.

Angus Barn

Angus Barn actually made The Nation’s Restaurant News Top 50. Aka: It’s a MUST-GO restaurant. While the Angus Barn steakhouse may be on the more expensive side, you’re not only paying for high-quality food, but you’re also paying for a unique experience. The location is absolutely breathtaking (It’s quite literally a restored barn) and serves a sweet elegant ambiance. At night, the barn is lit up with hundreds of string lights, truly making the place look magical.

Important: Remember to make a reservation beforehand.

Rise

I take breakfast VERY seriously, so choosing my favorite breakfast spot would seem difficult… but Rise was the obvious pick! It’s just that good. Rise started in Durham in 2012 and has expanded to sixteen locations in North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee since. Rise serves Southern Biscuits, Righteous Chicken and Sweet Stuff all day long, waitstaff-free and with a swift service line.

Rise makes their food with love. Their buttermilk biscuits are made from scratch every day and their chicken is hand-breaded. Your meal was carefully made and perfected for you! Additionally, no meal is complete without an order of Cheddar Tots, their signature cheesy, Idaho potato treats. They are also open at 7AM-2PM so you don’t have to rush! Sleep in!

lucettegrace

Lucettegrace is a quaint, little bakery off of Salisbury Street. Once you step into lucettegrace, you feel as if you’ve been transported to Paris with their french-style environment and pastries. Everything I have tried so far has been outstanding but the real show stopper is their macaroons. Choose between vanilla, pistachio, rose, French toast, birthday cake, salted caramel, orange creamsicle, grapefruit and s’mores.

Am I missing any Raleigh restaurants you’d recommend? Or is your favorite on the list? Let me know what you think is the ultimate place to eat in the comments below.

Happy munching!
