Since college, I’ve been drinking multiple cups of coffee each day. Some may think it’s crazy but… I love coffee in the morning, the afternoon, and even at night! So, therefore, I enjoy discovering new coffee shops and spending tons of time (and money) at them! Over the past few years, some Raleigh coffee shops have impressed me more than others, including:

Jubala Coffee
I fell in love with Jubala Coffee the first year I moved to Raleigh. Andrew, the owner, is from Raleigh and wanted to create a coffee shop specifically designed to serve the Triangle community. The first Jubala opened up in Lafayette Village in early 2000.
The Jubala Village in Lafayette Village is great but my favorite location is on Hillsborough Street, mostly for the view and atmosphere. At the Hillsborough location, the outdoor seating is right across the street from N.C. State’s bell tower. Overall, their coffee is delicious and I’ve always had a wonderful experience!
New World Cafe Coffee
Back when I lived off Glenwood, I used to frequent New World Cafe often. This little shop provided me with a tranquil, creative space to work while enjoying a yummy cappuccino!
The atmosphere of the New World Cafe is so welcoming and friendly that you’ll end up spending hours here. Whether you’re working on your latest project, reading for fun, or on a cute coffee date, the cafe is a great place for you. Plus, there’s a variety of seating… including a few comfy armchairs and couch in the back!
Not a huge coffee fan? No worries. They also offer tea, smoothies, baked goods, and other small bites. You should definitely go for lunch and try their Turkey Baconator wrap.
BREW Coffee
Unfortunately, the one Brew location I go to most (located in Seaboard Station) just shut down permanently due to COVID-19. However, Brew has multiple locations throughout the Triangle area so I’ll be sure to find a new go-to.
One of my favorite thing about Brew is its unique style. They serve all coffee and food in real ceramic mugs and plates. It makes the whole experience feel much cozier. If you’re not sure what to get, ask the staff! Baristas are knowledgable and happy to give you recommendations.

Benelux Coffee
First off, Benelux’s coffee is amazing but their Brussel-style waffles are to die for. The waffles are only six dollars and come with a variety of different toppings. They pair perfectly with a hot mocha or cappuccino!
I also love the funky, fun vibe Benelux has. The shop is in Cameron Village, therefore fashionably designed and uniquely made. You’re sure to be awestruck by the wall-to-wall mural made entirely out of coffee beans.
It’s a great place to have Sunday Brunch with friends.
NoRa Coffee
Formerly known as Maude’s Coffee and Garden, NoRa Coffee gave the little shop a much-needed facelift in 2019. New management turned the garden into more seating, as well as expanded the food and beverage menu. Including gluten-free options!
NoRa is an eclectic, little coffee shop with a small-town feel to it. Inside is decorated with artwork, books, and more from local artists! They’ve partnered with Dog-Eared Books, Videri Chocolate, and The Pleasant Bee to bring you locally-sourced products. During the COVD-19 pandemic, they also raised money for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
This Summer, they also added socially-distanced events to their itinerary! Most weekends, NoRa will be hosting drive-in movie nights in the Strickland parking lot. I will most definitely be checking it out and enjoying all that NoRa has to offer!
There are tons of great Triangle coffee shops to enjoy. By trying different ones, you’re bound to discover your own personal favorite!
What’s one Raleigh coffee shop you’d recommend? Did your favorite make the list?
